Well known Grey Bruce country musician Alfie Fromager has died.
He passed away Thursday morning at 87 years old.
Fromager played countless shows locally and further afield, and received numerous awards and recognition over the course of his lifetime including Owen Sound’s Centennial concert in 1957.
His was a popular voice in Grey Bruce for many decades and sang his first songs on 560 CFOS at the age of 12, and regularly in the 1960s. In 1967 Fromager had the station’s number one song, The Wrong Side of Life.
Fromager hosted his own country music TV show on CKVR in Barrie called Make Mine Country, and was on CKNX TV’s show, Johnny Brent’s Western Roundup, in Wingham.
Fromager was one of the first inductees into the Bruce Grey Music Hall of Fame at the Hepworth-Shallow Lake Legion.
His younger brother, Neil was inducted in 2019.
