Canadian hockey Icon Howie Meeker has passed away.
The former NHL player, Hockey Night in Canada icon and legendary personality died Sunday at age 97 at Nanaimo General Hospital in B.C..
Meeker won four Stanley Cups with Toronto and was the oldest living Maple Leaf.
He was an NHL star who won rookie of the year honours in 1947, after scoring 27 goals and 45 points in 55 games.
Howie Meeker lived a life and charted a path like no other. A four-time Stanley Cup winner, a Member of Parliament, and a beloved television broadcaster, he was a great Canadian and will be missed. My condolences to his loved ones and everyone who looked up to him.
