Meaford is adopting its 2025 budget, which includes a blended 5.29 per cent tax rate increase.
Council adopted the budget during its meeting on April 7, which will result in an annual $214 increase for homes assessed at $273,000.
The budget also features $16.4 million for capital projects, which includes various road projects, facility upgrades, and infrastructure enhancements.
Some of the larger projects include the $950,000 construction of the Nelson Street Parking Lot, the over $4 million reconstruction of Trowbridge Street West, and the $478,000 rehabilitation of the Sideroad 21 bridge.
Mayor Ross Kentner says this budget sets up the municipality to take action on its strategic priorities.
“With a new CAO now on board, we’re ready to move forward. Council, staff, and the community all played a big role in shaping this plan for the upcoming year. We remain committed to closing our infrastructure gap with our capital budget framework,” says Kentner.
