No injuries were reported in a suspicious residential fire on Bruce Road 86 in the Township of Huron-Kinloss.
Huron-Kinloss Fire Chief Jeff Bradley says on April 3 around 10:16 p.m., officers, as well as firefighters from Ripley, Lucknow and Kincardine responded to a fully involved house fire.
Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the blaze.
Bradley says the cause of the fire is currently under investigation as it met the criteria for reporting to the Ontario Fire Marshal.
Members of the South Bruce OPP Crime Unit and the OPP Forensic Identification Services were on the scene to assist with the investigation.
A portion of Bruce Road 86 was closed while crews battled the blaze.
“This incident serves as an important reminder of the critical role that working smoke and carbon monoxide alarms play in ensuring the safety of residents. We strongly encourage homeowners to regularly test their smoke and CO Alarms, replace batteries annually, and ensure alarms are properly installed in key areas of the home. Early detection is key to preventing injury and loss of life in fire emergencies,” says Bradley.
