If doing your taxes is too pricey, the United Way of Perth-Huron is offering help.
United Way officials are offering free tax clinics to seniors, newcomers, students, and those receiving income from social assistance programs.
“Ten to 12 per cent of Canadians don’t file their taxes,” said Kristin Crane, UWPH Director of Community Impact and Research.
“Among this group, modest income households — especially those with children — are particularly affected because if they don’t file taxes, they can’t claim the refunds and benefits they are entitled to. Local volunteer tax clinics play a vital role in ensuring that gap is addressed.”
To find out about the nearest tax clinic, dial 2-1-1 or visit 211ontario.ca.
If you are owed money, you can file taxes at any time of year.
