The United Way of Perth-Huron is preparing for the effects a Canada U-S trade war could have in the region.
With inflation and job losses a likely byproduct of tariffs imposed on both sides of the border, the United Way is working with social service and economic development partners on a strategy to address food insecurity, mental health and well-being and support for workers through the organization’s Urgent Needs Fund.
“United Way has a long history of addressing the most pressing issues in the region,” said Ryan Erb, UWPH Executive Director.
“We responded quickly to support the Goderich community after the tornado, rose to the occasion during COVID, and we will do it again now. We will announce more details of our plans in the near future.”
The United Way of Perth-Huron’s current campaign is currently around 80 per cent of its $2.6 million goal.
