Paid parking is coming to Goderich’s Maitland Valley Family Health Team parking lot.
Goderich council approved a motion to introduce paid parking at the clinic sometime in 2025.
Elected officials approved an option that would charge a one-time fee of $3 per visit, paid at an automatic barrier arm gate going into the clinic lot.
Goderich residents would not be exempt from this fee, unlike the paid parking at the town’s waterfront, which exempts those who live in Goderich.
Parking fees were proposed as a way to generate revenue, when town officials say health payments from Queen’s Park stagnated.
A report from the town’s Operations and Treasury officials says the annual gross revenue from the paid parking at the MVFHT is estimated at just over $399 thousand.
Operating costs for the parking would be $20 thousand, annually.
