The Canadian Press has named the provincial riding of
Barrie-Springwater-Oro-Medonte as one of ten to watch on election day.
The incumbent is Conservative Doug Downey who was very nearly unseated by the Liberal candidate, former Barrie Mayor Jeff Lehman in 2022. The margin was 300 votes. This year, the Liberals are running Doctor Rose Zacharias – former Ontario Medical Association president. With a strong campaign pillar like health care, she is seen as a major contender.
