Owen Sound is conducting excess snow removal operations in the downtown core tonight.
City crews will be out Wednesday at 8 p.m. and will work overnight to remove excess snow from streets and sidewalks.
While crews are out, vehicles parked in the downtown core must be removed from parking spaces by 8 p.m. Wednesday evening to allow snow removal equipment to access the accumulated snow piles.
Snow plows will be out on the following roads:
-2nd Avenue East, between 6th Street East and 11th Street East
-3rd Avenue East, between 8th Street East and 10th Street East
-4th Avenue East, between 8th Street East and 10th Street East
-9th Street East, bottom of 9th Street West Hill to 5th Avenue East on both sides
-8th Street East, bottom of 8th Street West path to 5th Avenue East on both sides
-1st Avenue East, between 8th Street East and 9th Street East
-1st Avenue West, between 8th Street West and 10th Street West
-10th Street East, between 1st Avenue West and 4th Avenue East
While the work is going on, drivers and pedestrians are asked to avoid these areas and signs will be posed indicating snow-clearing operations.
“This removal is above and beyond the usual winter maintenance of plowing streets and sidewalks. Snowbanks will be hauled to designated snow disposal sites where they can safely be stores and, later, melt without causing issues,” says the city in a release.
