Bruce Power says that they’ve taken Unit 4 offline as the company continues ahead with its major component replacement.
Unit 4 was taken offline to continue with its life-extension program.
The company says that Unit 4 is the halfway point of their major component replacement project, as it is the third unit to be replaced.
Bruce Power’s $13-billion refurbishment is Canada’s third largest infrastructure project.
It’s also Ontario’s largest clean-energy infrastructure project.
The Life-Extension Program and MCR Projects will extend the operational life of each reactor by 30 to 35 years and, as a result, help mitigate the predicted increase in greenhouse gas emissions intensity of the electricity grid.
