Orillia OPP are thanking two bystanders after making an arrest in the city.
Just before noon on Thursday, police got a call about mischief at a local restaurant. An officer spotted the suspect walking near Front Street and Queen Street, and tried to detain the suspect.
An altercation occurred, where the suspect began assaulting the officer, including trying to spit in their face. Two bystanders then stepped in to help the officer.
The accused, a 26-year-old of no fixed address, was charged with causing a disturbance, two counts of mischief, and six counts of failure to comply with a probation order.
They were held for a bail hearing. The officer was not injured.
