The Algoma Compass has finally made its arrival in Owen Sound’s harbour.
The shipping vessel, which was expected to arrive on January 10th, pulled in to port overnight.
Harbour Master Steve Shaw confirmed the ships arrival, saying that winter weather and ice had caused delays.
Bayshore News had reached out to Algoma Central, the company’s headquarters, for more information, but was unable to reach anyone at the time of publishing.
It’s advised that anyone who is spending time near the water where the boat is docked should exercise extreme caution, as the ice surface has been compromised.
The Algoma Compass is a 207-metre long (680 ft) self-unloading bulk carrier ship that was built in 1973.
