Grey Bruce OPP say an Alliston man is facing charges following an armed robbery in Markdale.
Police say on Jan. 23 around 10:38 p.m., officers received a report of a robbery involving a firearm at a financial institution along Toronto Street North.
The suspect fled the scene before police arrived.
Police say an investigation revealed the victim was using an ATM when they were approached and assaulted by the accused who demanded the victim withdraw funds from the ATM while brandishing a handgun.
Through the use of video surveillance, police took the accused into custody on Jan. 24.
Police seized an imitation firearm and charged the 36-year-old accused with armed robbery, pointing a firearm, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and six counts of possessing a firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order.
The accused was held for a bail hearing and was remanded into custody.
