The Town of Mono is considering giving Glenoe School a Heritage Designation.
Council heard the recommendation from the Heritage Advisory Committee during its most recent council meeting.
The one room schoolhouse used to be an integral part of life in rural Mono, according to the committee.
Representatives say those types of schools provided a space for public gatherings and events and are an important part of Mono’s heritage.
This school in particular was built in the 1880’s and was likely built by local tradespeople.
A public notice will be provided before council passes the by-law.
