A woman was struck by a vehicle while shovelling snow in Owen Sound yesterday evening.
Owen Sound Police say a Mercedes vehicle was travelling westbound on 8th Street East at around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, when it struck an unoccupied car parked on the side of the road with its hazard lights on.
According to police, the collision flung the parked car forward into a 24-year-old female who was shovelling snow. A third car parked in the driveway was also hit.
The woman was taken to the Owen Sound hospital by ambulance, and later transferred to London for treatment of injuries police describe as serious.
“All three involved vehicles were towed from the scene,” Owen Sound Police say in a release.
The 29-year-old man who was driving the Mercedes remained at the scene, and was charged with careless driving causing bodily harm.
