A major structure fire is being battled this morning at Peter St. & Mississaga in Orillia.
OPP say the City’s downtown core at Mississaga St. E. from West St. to Matchedash St. over to Colborne St. will be closed to the public for the day while crews gain control of an ongoing fire and assess structural integrity of the affected building.
Earlier Orillia Fire reported that the power was shut off to the block and all residents in the area were advised to stay indoors with windows closed for the time being. So far no injuries have been reported.
In an update, the Orillia BIA said those displaced by the fire can go to businesses the Eclectic Café and Pauls Para Fernalia to keep safe and warm. The Salvation Army van is also parked in front of the post office on Peter Street.
As well, if you can make it to ODAS park, a warm place is being provided there for those displaced and animals too if needed.
