Public works crews in Owen Sound will be removing excess snow build-up downtown tonight.
A notice from City Hall says the snow removal operation will begin at 8 p.m. Wednesday evening and should wrap up by early Thursday morning.
The work will include hauling away excess snow downtown — including snowbanks — to designated snow disposal sites, where it can be stored and later melt without causing any issues.
“Vehicles parked in the downtown core must be removed from parking spaces by 8 p.m. on Wednesday, January 15, to allow snow removal equipment access to the accumulated snow piles. Residents and visitors are reminded that winter overnight parking restrictions are in place,” a release from the city explains. “Vehicles interfering with snow removal activities will be towed.”
City staff will be posting signage indicating snow-clearing operations are ongoing, but drivers and pedestrians travelling downtown tonight are reminded to be aware of the activities.
