Huron County council got a preview of the 2025 Budget at their first meeting of the new year.
Director of Corporate Services Michael Blumhagen presented the draft budget outlining what to expect for this year’s expenses.
The report showed an increase in costs for staff salaries and benefits, an additional expense for court services at the county courthouse in Goderich, and contributions to the Huron County Food Bank and Distribution Centre.
There was also the proposal of focusing on hiring full-time staff members to the homes for the aged, which would change casual positions for staff and the use of agency staffing to ensure stable full-time permanent staffing.
Further discussion on the budget will be taking place at council’s budget meeting, which will be on February 12th.
