No one was injured in an apartment fire in Port Elgin early this morning.
Saugeen Shores Fire Chief Ed Melanson says about 20 firefighters responded to the fire along Arlington Street around 4 a.m. on Sunday.
He says crews were on scene for about an hour and a half to battle the small fire.
Melanson adds while the cause of the fire has not been confirmed, he says a mattress was burned.
There is currently no damage estimate.
The lone female occupant of the apartment and her dog are safe and there are no injuries.
“All of their smoke alarms were working correctly and firefighters knocked it down very quickly. There was smoke but not a lot of fire,” says Melanson.
