The Owen Sound Attack made another splash in the Ontario Hockey League trade market Wednesday afternoon.
The team announced it moved forward Sam McCue, 19, and draft picks to the Flint Firebirds in exchange for 16-year-old forward Cole Zurawski.
McCue, a Sudbury native, was the second veteran player dealt by the Attack Wednesday, after defenceman Konnor Smith was sent to the Brampton Steelheads earlier.
McCue led Owen Sound with 18 goals in 35 games this season.
The Attack also sent second- and third-round picks in the 2027 and 2026 OHL Priority Selections, and a third-round pick in 2028 to acquire Zurawski, who was Flint’s first-round selection, sixth overall in the 2024 OHL Priority Selection.
Zurawski went one spot ahead of his new teammate, Attack forward Pierce Mbuyi in the 2024 OHL Priority Selection.
If you’re keeping up, the No. 6 and No. 7 overall picks in the 2024 OHL Priority Selection now play for the Attack.
Zurawski, a Barrie native, had six goals and nine assists — 15 points — in 32 games with the Firebirds this season, his first in the OHL.
Two of the draft picks Owen Sound sent to Flint were acquired in the trade earlier this season that saw forward Colby Barlow join the Oshawa Generals.
Owen Sound and Flint also swapped 15th-round draft picks in the trade.
Zurawski will make his Attack debut tonight when the Attack host the Barrie Colts at the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre.
