The New Year’s Day Polar Bear Dip in Southampton which saw a big crowd of people take a chilly dip in Lake Huron raised $4,500 in cash donations and 750 pounds of food.
The donations will support the local Salvation Army and food bank.
The event sees the beach in Southampton fill with people on the first day of the year for a brief time, while those who are brave enough, plunge into the water, and the crowds of friends and supporters on the beach cheer them on.
This was the fourth year for the event.
