Chatsworth councillors are set to discuss the township’s proposed 2025 budget at a meeting this evening.
It comes with a 4.9 per cent combined tax rate increase — including projected county and education levies — which would cost the average single detached homeowner another $166 on the annual property tax bill, a budget document explains.
The township portion of the levy is rising by 6.7 per cent.
An $8.5-million operating budget and a $5.3-million capital plan make up Chatsworth’s 2025 spending plan.
A lot of the planning capital spending in Chatsworth this year is on roads ($2.8-million). The township is also putting more than $400,000 towards its recreational facilities.
This year will be the first of a 10-year capital plan in Chatsworth that will see the township invest $40-million in its infrastructure, a budget document explains.
After tonight, a public meeting is scheduled for January 15 concerning the 2025 budget. Council aims to have it finalized and passed by Feb. 5.
