Bruce County’s Emergency Management division is reminding everyone to be prepared with a winter preparedness kit.
With winter being in full swing, the county has already had significant winter weather events.
They say that being ready for an emergency in the event of power failure is key.
The county recommends that you have some safeguards in place for your home, such as a backup generator. If a generator is not an option, identify a room that can be contained in order to retain as much heat as possible.
It’s also important to have warm blankets, wool socks, and extra hats and mitts to keep everyone warm.
Your kit should also have non-perishable food and drinking water, and at least one emergency flashlight with batteries.
