A large cargo ship is docked in Owen Sound for the winter.
CSL Ships Director of Communications Brigitte Hebert says the MV (merchant vessel) Oakglen will be moored in Owen Sound for winter layup.
The vessel docked on the east side of Owen Sound harbour around 11 a.m. this morning from Port Colborne, according to a marine traffic website.
Hebert says over the course of the winter, the ship will undergo general maintenance work before it departs late March to resume service.
The 222 meter gearless bulk carrier was built in 1980.
In general a gearless bulk carrier does not have its own cargo crane and requires the equipment at the port to unload.
Its home port is Montreal and currently operates in the Great Lakes and St. Lawrence Seaway.
