Nottawasaga OPP have charged a driver with impaired driving offences, after they saw a vehicle trying to avoid a RIDE stop.
Police were holding the stop on County Road 90 in Essa Township just before midnight on December 25th.
The officers noticed an approaching vehicle that then turned around to avoid the traffic stop. Police then started to pursue the vehicle, but weren’t able to get the driver to pull over. As a matter of public safety, they stopped pursuing the vehicle.
Just over half an hour later, police were patrolling County Road 90, and found the same vehicle, and were able to meet the driver in a parking lot, where the driver attempted to evade police again.
Eventually, the 19-year-old driver from Angus was charged with operating while under the influence of drugs and alcohol, as well as dangerous operation and flight from a peace officer.
