Grey Bruce Farmers’ Week is gearing up for its 59th annual event in January.
Farmers’ Week Coordinator Lorie Smith says the popular conference and tradeshow on all things agriculture will be back a week later than normal, running Jan. 8 to the 14 at the Elmwood Community Centre.
The event will start with beef day, then dairy, goat, sheep, horse, crop, and ecological day with each featuring keynote speakers on topics ranging from replacing heifers, the longevity of dairy herds, nutrition and management, and maximizing soil health.
“On sheep day, we have a presenter coming live from the UK and that is the first time we have had a live UK speaker,” says Smith. “We have speakers coming in from Missouri and Florida, California, and Quebec. Of course there are top notch speakers from all across Ontario.”
The event will also feature 50 exhibitors and panels.
“This conference is farmer driven and that is why I think why it has been so successful for 59 years, what an incredible accomplishment,” says Smith.
The event is also bringing back livestreaming and recordings for those who can’t make it in person.
“Grey Bruce Farmers’ Week is a well-oiled machine and we keep making things better. It continues to be livestreamed, which has been a great initiative since 2018,” says Smith.
Smith adds she is expecting a full-house for this year’s event.
