The Owen Sound Attack have announced the addition of a goaltender.
Trenten Bennett, 18, has signed a standard OHL player development and education agreement with the Attack. He is joining the club on an Affilitate Player (AP) card, which is limited to appearing in 10 games during the 2024-25 regular season.
“Which as per league rules does not include any games he appears in during Carter George’s time with Team Canada,” the Attack say in a statement.
An Attack goaltender addition was anticipated and necessary, with George off in Ottawa starting this week for Canada’s World Junior Hockey Championship selection camp.
Bennett, a 6-foot-8 Kitchener native, was a 14th round pick of the Attack in the 2022 OHL Priority Selection. He is committed to join the St. Lawrence University Men’s Hockey program (NCAA) for the 2026-27 season.
This year, he has been playing for the Kemptville 73’s in the Central Canada Hockey League (Junior A), and has an 8-11-2 record with a .907 save percentage and 3.08 goals-against average.
“We are very excited to have the ability to sign Trenten to a standard player agreement and would like to welcome him and his family to the Attack organization,” says Attack General Manager Dale DeGray in a statement. “He has had a solid start to the season playing in Kemptville in the CCHL putting up some good numbers. He has tremendous size and look forward to helping him achieve his goals and seeing Trenten in an Attack jersey.”
Bennett will be on the ice for practice Monday and is expected to wear number 30 when the Attack take on the Guelph Storm on Wednesday night at the Bayshore.
