If you want to enrol your kids in public French Immersion classes, an information session is being held by the Avon Maitland District School Board.
AMDSB officials will be holding an online meeting January 15th to discuss student registration.
Only three schools in the public board offer elementary French Immersion, all in Perth County: Anne Hathaway Public School (grades K to 6); Bedford Public School (grades K to 6); and Stratford Intermediate School (grade 7 and 8) in Stratford.
Secondary French Immersion is only available at Stratford District Secondary School.
In 2016, parents in Huron County petitioned the AMDSB to bring French Immersion courses to local schools.
The board opted not to initiate those courses, citing staffing and transportation costs.
A petition was formed in 2018, calling on the AMDSB to reconsider the decision.
