The Team Ontario U17 women’s lacrosse team capped off an outstanding season with an undefeated 8-0 record over the past two weekends, dominating tournaments in Maryland and Florida.
Three athletes from the Owen Sound North Stars Junior Elite Women’s Lacrosse (JEWL) team – Bree Wilkins, Taryn Weppler, and head coach Lyndsay Brooks – were key contributors to the squad’s success.
At the President’s Cup in Bradenton, Florida, this past weekend, Team Ontario was in top form, beginning with a resounding 23-0 victory over Pipeline HS Platinum.
The team followed that up with a hard-fought 9-5 win over Team British Columbia, a narrow 6-5 victory against the Philadelphia Blast, and a commanding 11-1 triumph over Coppermine North.
The previous weekend, Team Ontario continued their dominant play from earlier in the season at the Mid-Atlantic Showcase just outside Baltimore, Maryland.
The squad opened the tournament with two consecutive wins, defeating REV 2026 8-5 and South Coast 7-5 on day one.
The team carried that momentum into day two, securing two more victories: an 8-4 win over LAX Maniax and an 11-2 domination of AFA 2026.
With their stellar performance, Team Ontario U17 finished the year with an impressive 19-2 record.
The only blemishes on their record came in two tough losses to the U.S. National Developmental Team.
