On Saturday November 16, 2024 West Grey officers responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Concession 18 in West Grey. The 47 year old male driver of the involved motor vehicle was observed visible sign of impairment. He was placed under arrest and transported to the West Grey police station where he registered two breath samples well over 80 mgs of alcohol in 100 mls of blood. He was charged with Adult Operation causing bodily harm as a passenger was injured in the collision. He was further charged with operation while impaired and operation while impaired-blood alcohol concentration (80 plus). His license was suspended and he was released on conditions. He will appear in court in early December to answer to the charges.
On November 13, 2024 officers responded to a report of someone urinating in public. The culprit was located and a bylaw ticket was issued.
West Grey police have responded to numerous car vs deer collisions in November. We remind drivers to be on the lookout for wildlife on our roadways.
The West Grey Police Service is hosting their 20th Annual Toy Drive for families in West Grey. Unwrapped toys can be dropped off at the West Grey Police station, the Municipal office, Germania Mutual Insurance in Ayton, Granny’s Neustadt, Ayton Food Market and Durham Home Hardware until December 11, 2024. West Grey Police members will be on hand at Farlow’s Home Hardware and Durham Foodland on December 7th after the parade for a special toy and food drive. Monetary donations are also accepted at Home Hardware or the West Grey Police station.
Last year community members supported the Toy Drive to help 211 children in West Grey experience the magic of Christmas and we expect the need will be even greater this year.
