There will be live fire exercises going on at the military training centre in Meaford for the next few days.
Soldiers from the 11th Field Artillery Regiment will be conducting live fire exercises at the 4th Canadian Division Training Centre (4 CDTC) between November 22nd and 24th.
Noise from ranges at the training centre may be heard between the hours of 8 a.m. and 11:59 p.m. daily. You may notice a series of loud noises during this time, including sounds from weapons and large-calibre guns firing simultaneously.
The military says, “This exercise is for training purposes, and at no time will the safety or security of the public be in jeopardized.”
They add, “4 CDTC recognizes the importance of community cooperation. Without the support of local communities, military members would not be able to accomplish their mission. Local communities provide key supports and services that are essential and greatly appreciated by military members. Activities on base occasionally impact the local area. While this may be unavoidable at times, 4 CDTC sincerely appreciates the understanding of local residents and does not underestimate the value of this important reciprocal relationship.”
