West Grey is making a zoning amendment to allow for a new proposed subdivision in Durham.
Council approved the zoning bylaw update for 15.8 hectares of land during its meeting on Nov. 19 for the proposed 146 unit subdivision, which would include a mix of townhouses, a three storey apartment and parkland.
This comes after a public meeting was held in September, 2023, where the municipality received several comments from neighbouring property owners.
To accommodate the proposed subdivision, the project is looking to extent Chester Street as well as construct new streets with a connection to Grey Road 4.
A report from Manager of Planning and Development David Smith says, “West Grey will work with the County of Grey in the crafting of suitable condition of draft approval. The county is the decision-making authority in respect to the final wording of any condition of draft approval. A subdivision agreement between the developer and West Grey will be required.”
