Hanover Police Chief Chris Knoll says those who engage in road rage related violence will find themselves in court.
He says in a social media post Tuesday, Hanover Police responded to a street fight between two men on 12th Street near 10th Avenue.
Police say their investigation determined a pedestrian made an obscene gesture at a passing driver.
The driver turned around, got out of his pickup truck, and knocked the other man to the ground.
Knoll says the driver then began punching and kicking the man before hopping back into his truck and leaving the scene.
The investigation resulted in the arrest of a 53-year-old Central Huron man for assault and causing a disturbance by fighting.
Knoll says the pedestrian received minor injuries that did not require medical treatment.
The police chief is thanking the eyewitnesses who provided information to police.
He says, “Road rage is unacceptable, and those that engage in such behaviour will find themselves in court.”
Knoll adds, “It should be noted that this assault was a stranger on stranger attack. These attacks are becoming more common and have absolutely no place in our communities. This investigation remains active, and anyone who witnessed this assault or has video footage should contact police.”
