Owen Sound’s tax levy increase next year is currently estimated at four per cent.
City councillors reviewed a report concerning 2025 budget committee engagement at Monday’s meeting which projects Owen Sound’s combined increase — including municipal, county and education levies — at four per cent.
That would cost the average assessed homeowner another $178 on the annual property tax bill.
Coun. Marion Koepke also introduced an amendment to a recommendation which passed, directing staff to bring forward a draft operating budget with a proposed municipal rate increase between three per cent and five per cent.
City council will meet Dec. 9 to review the 2025 draft operating budget.
