South Bruce OPP say three people are facing a slew of charges after responding to a weapons complaint.
Police say on Nov. 18 at 11:20 a.m., officers responded to a complaint from a business on Berford Street in Wiarton.
It was reported three intoxicated people entered a business in Wiarton and it was believed one person might have had a rife sticking out of their bag. Police found the suspects a short distance away.
As a result, police say a 39-year-old from South Bruce Peninsula was charged with careless use of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, carrying a concealed weapon, unauthorized possession of a firearm, knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of prohibited or restricted firearm with ammo, possession counterfeit money, possession of a substance and for the purpose of trafficking, breaching recognizance, and six counts of possession of a firearm or ammo contrary to a prohibition order.
A 54-year-old from Meaford was also charged with careless use of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammo, possession of weapon for dangerous purpose, carrying a concealed weapon, unauthorized possession of a firearm, knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm, possession of prohibited or restricted firearm with ammo, possessing counterfeit money, possession of a substance for the purpose of trafficking, and three counts of possession of a firearm or ammo contrary to a prohibition order.
The third accused is a 34-year-old from Haldiman County and is charged with careless use of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, carrying a concealed weapon, unauthorized possession of a firearm, knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammo, possessing counterfeit money, possession of a substance for the purpose of trafficking, three counts of possessing a firearm or ammo contrary to a prohibition order, and failing to comply with a probation order.
Police say all three were held pending a bail hearing.
