A low water advisory has been issued for parts of Huron County.
The Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority issued the Level 1 Low Water Advisory for the entire Ausable Bayfield watershed.
Officials say the notice was issued, following three successive months of dry weather which resulted in decreased groundwater levels in shallow aquifers, significant reduction of base flows in watercourses, and, in some cases, complete loss of base flows.
According to the ABCA, rainfall averages over the last three months were only 50 per cent of normal amounts.
A Level 1 advisory includes a request for a 10 per cent voluntary reduction in water use.
A Level 2 advisory calls for an additional 10 per cent (total of 20 per cent) voluntary reduction.
A Level 3 Low Water Advisory may involve mandatory water use restrictions.
