New water samples could come Friday afternoon, according to the Town of Hanover as a boil water advisory remains in place.
The advisory, first issued Wednesday evening, is a proactive safety measure implemented by the Town of Hanover for users of the municipal water system.
The Town explains out of six water samples, one test result was adverse.
It adds, “The adverse test result prompted immediate action by the Town of Hanover and new samples have been sent with priority to our accredited lab. Results of the new samples are anticipated as early as the afternoon of Friday, November 8th.”
Mayor Sue Paterson says in a statement, “The Town’s first priority is ensuring the safety of our water supply. Our internal municipal water treatment systems are working as intended which prompted us to issue the precautionary boil water advisory for the safety of our residents, out of abundance of caution.”
She adds, “I know this causes concern for our residents. I kindly ask for your patience as we await the lab results. I am pleased to hear residents are checking in with their neighbours, older adults and others in our community. I encourage this neighbourly care to continue.”
The Town says certified water treatment operators are proactively working. Town drinking water continues to be treated and disinfected consistent with everyday operations.
