An Owen Sound man has been charged in a stabbing.
City Police say at 7 a.m. Friday (Nov 1) a man walked into the lobby of the Owen Sound Police Station after having been stabbed in the torso in the area of the 900 block of 3rd Avenue East.
The man was provided with first aid by Police Officers and was transported to Brightshores Hospital by Grey County EMS.
Police conducted an immediate investigation that resulted in the identification of a suspect. At 7:53 a.m. police located the accused riding his bicycle in close proximity to where the stabbing had taken place and arrested.
Police say a search of the crime scene was conducted, resulting in the recovery of the knife that was used in the assault.
According to police, their investigation determined the stabbing was a case of mistaken identity in which the accused falsely believed that the victim had stolen from him.
A 31-year-old man from Owen Sound has been charged with Assault with a Weapon, Carrying a Concealed Weapon, Possession of a Weapon Dangerous to the Public Peace and Assault. Police say he is currently in custody awaiting a bail court appearance.
The victim was treated for non life-threatening injuries and has been released from hospital.
