There’s a public meeting tonight in Saugeen Shores about the future of the Town’s landfill site.
The landfill will reach capacity in the next six to eight years, and the Town is looking at its waste management options for the next 40 years.
It’s working on the terms of reference for an environmental assessment right now, and that requires a decision to be made about what that assessment will look at.
Consultants R.J. Burnside will give a presentation tonight, explaining the situation.
The Town is leaning towards expanding the existing landfill in Southampton, there’s a 26.3 hectare area to the west they think could be suitable.
The community has an opportunity to comment tonight at a public meeting that starts at 6:30 in Council chambers which is currently at the Nuclear Innovation Institute in Port Elgin.
The Town has a web page about the project
