Hydro One says there will be a planned power outage affecting the Bruce Peninsula Sunday.
They say on October 27th from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m., crews will be replacing approximately 30 cross arms on the area’s main powerline to ensure future reliability. Hydro One says cross arms are a critical piece of equipment on a pole that hold the powerline.
During the outage, approximately 6,000 Hydro One customers in the area from roughly Colpoy’s Bay to Tobermory will be affected.
Thy add, “We thank customers for their patience as we complete this critical work.”
Hydro One says affected customers have been notified via an automated phone call and can also sign up to receive outage alerts by text or email at hydroone.com/outages.
Hydro One says customers are encouraged to prepare for the upcoming outage by taking the following actions:
Making sure appliances, such as the stove, are in the off position.
Making sure cellphones and devices are fully charged.
Using a battery-powered alarm clock or cellphone to ensure morning alarms aren’t missed.
Keeping refrigerator and freezer doors closed as much as possible and using a cooler with ice for items needed during the planned outage.
If water services will be affected at your home, consider filling jugs of water to use for drinking and cooking.
If using a generator, remember to use it in a dry area outdoors away from any open windows, doors and vents. Visit the Electrical Safety Authority at esasafe.com for more
