Starting Friday, there will be live fire military exercises going on at the 4th Canadian Division Training Centre (4 CDTC) in Meaford.
Soldiers from the 56th Field Artillery Regiment will be conducting exercises between October 25th and 27th.
A release from the Canadian Armed Forces says noise from ranges at the training centre may be heard between the hours of 8 a.m. and 10:59 p.m. daily.
Noise may be heard from weapons and large-calibre guns firing simultaneously.
They say “This exercise is for training purposes, and at no time will the safety or security of the public be in jeopardy.”
They note, “4 CDTC recognizes the importance of community cooperation. Without the support of local communities, military members would not be able to accomplish their mission. Local communities provide key supports and services to military members that are necessary and appreciated.”
They add, “Activities on base occasionally impact the local area. While this may be unavoidable at times, 4 CDTC appreciates the understanding of local residents and does not underestimate this very important reciprocal relationship.”
