West Grey is planning on adjusting a zoning bylaw to allow for a proposed residential development in Durham.
Council approved directing staff to bring back a bylaw amendment at a future meeting for a proposed 56 unit development during a meeting on Sept. 17.
The development is proposed on a 6.36 acre property which includes semi-detached units, townhouse units, and a 30 unit condominium.
The proposal does not include parkland.
A report from Manager of Planning and Development David Smith says, “West Grey staff are of the opinion that there are sufficient recreation opportunities nearby to satisfy this requirement.”
This comes following a public meeting held last month where residents voiced concerns on the proposed development including the removal of trees, the stormwater pond may flood onto properties, and how affordable housing units will bring down property values in the area.
The proposed development also features a new entrance onto Grey Road 4.
