The Owen Sound Fire Department says a chemical spill was contained this morning during the Hazardous Waste Day event.
Fire Chief Phil Eagleson says crews responded to the Owen Sound Public Works Yard at 9:53 a.m. for a reported chemical spill.
Upon arrival, Eagleson says the crew found a chemical had been spilled in the trunk of a car and the unknown chemical was a concern.
In response, the vehicle was isolated from the waste day event.
Working with Canutec and event operators, Eagleson says the fire crews were able to contain and isolate the spilled chemical, which is being transported off site today by event operators.
Eagleson says the owner and driver of the vehicle was transported to hospital for observation as a precaution.
No other injures were reported.
