Classic and modern vehicles will be descending upon Cobble Beach this weekend for the 10th annual Concours d’Elegance.
Event Founder and Show Chair Rob McLeese says he is super excited for this year’s event running from Friday to Sunday.
There are 111 participants set to show off their vehicles, with one coming all the way from Newfoundland.
“We have got some really cool cars coming this year as always and we have got some great people coming,” says McLeese. “We have got Missouri, Michigan, New York, Southern Ontario of course, Quebec, and we are very lucky because people come from a long way away.”
McLeese says to the mark the 10-year anniversary, they are celebrating the 60 years of Mustang by showing off concept vehicles.
“We have one super hyper car that does zero to 60 in 1.67 seconds, its called a Pininfarina Battista, most people know Pininfarina as a body style, of which there are several cars from the 50s and 60s,” says McLeese.
The event will also feature various tours and seminars before judging begins on Sunday. The categories range from Horseless Carriage pre 1916, Early American Production 1916 to 1948, Classic C2 Corvette 1963 to 1967, Preservation Post War, and Japanese Vintage Motorcycles pre 1990.
Additionally, McLeese encourages people to dress the part when either viewing or showing off their classic vehicles.
“We have a fashion award for the best dressed spectator and we have one for the best dressed participant,” says McLeese. “You can be totally modern, but you can also be period costume, just have fun.”
While the event is a chance to show off unique vehicles, McLeese says it also operates as a fundraiser.
“We have broken the million dollar mark for the charities, of which $900,000 has been to Sunnybrook, and a little over $130,000 to Owen Sound. I am hoping to increase both of those number substantially this year,” says McLeese.
He says he would like to raise around the $150,000 mark in support of Brightshores Owen Sound Hospital Foundation and Sunnybrook Hospital Foundation.
