Representatives from upper and lower-tier municipalities will be meeting in Ottawa for the 2024 conference for the Association of Municipalities of Ontario.
Bruce County Warden Chris Peabody, along with members of council, will be advocating on key issues for the county.
The main areas of concern include housing, poverty reduction, and rural health care.
They’re also going to be asking the province to establish a framework of energy host communities and to provide capacity funding for meaningful municipal engagement.
The delegation from Bruce County will also be looking to discuss community safety, long-term care, infrastructure, and transportation.
This year’s AMO conference will be from August 18-21st, and is focused on giving municipalities from across Ontario a chance to have discussions with the provincial government.
