South Bruce OPP were busy patrolling the roads over the Canada Day long weekend.
They say they laid 156 speeding charges, two stunt driving charges, one impaired driving charge, two distracted driving charges, two seatbelt charges and 38 other provincial offence charges.
Additionally, police laid two stunt driving charges over the weekend.
The first was on June 28 at 9:24 p.m. along Highway 9 in Kincardine, when police noticed a vehicle travelling at 110 kilometers an hour in a 60 zone.
Then on July 1 at 9:34 p.m., police were on patrol along Highway 86 in Huron-Kinloss and saw a vehicle travelling at 148 kilometers an hour in an 80 zone.
A Brockton and Waterloo resident were charged respectively.
South Bruce OPP patrol roads in the area that includes Walkerton, Arran Elderslie, Kincardine and South Bruce.
Meanwhile, Grey Bruce OPP say they laid three impaired driving charges over the Canada Day long weekend.
They say on June 29th, at 2:51 a.m., Grey Bruce OPP observed a vehicle on Victoria Street in Dundalk with a burnt-out licence plate light. The OPP followed the vehicle and say they observed it making jerky stops. OPP charged a 24-year-old male from Southgate with impaired driving.
On June 30th, at 11:47 p.m., Grey Bruce OPP received a report of a crash on Rankin Bridge Road. A 22-year-old from Hamilton was charged with impaired driving.
On July 1st at 6:25 p.m., Grey Bruce OPP received a call that an intoxicated person had just left a residence. OPP say the person was found driving along Pashwood Drive in Saugeen First Nation. A 21-year-old from South Bruce was charged with impaired driving.
