Several events are planned for the long weekend in the region to mark Canada Day.
In addition to Owen Sound’s Sound Waterfront Festival, municipalities across Grey and Bruce will be celebrating the national holiday.

The festivities in Meaford will kick off on June 29 with a special concert at Meaford Hall at 7:30 p.m., featuring a variety of local talent.
Then on Sunday, people are invited to head to the Annan Ball Diamond at 6 p.m. for some barbeque and live music, as well as free activities for kids.
For Canada Day, the Meaford Harbour will come alive first thing in the morning at 8 a.m. with a pancake breakfast, followed by a barbeque, a beer garden, canoe tours, games, live music and more. These festivities will end at 4 p.m., and will be followed by some more food and live music at 6:30 p.m. in Bognor before the day ends with a fireworks display.
Georgian Bluffs is starting Canada Day off right with Yoga on the Pier at 9 a.m., followed by the singing of O Canada as the flag is raised and pancakes are served. There will also be a balloon artist on site.
The township encourages people to visit the various parks and trails in the area as well as local shops.
Then at 4 p.m. at Cobble Beach, there will be live music as well as a food and drinks. The evening will wrap up with a bagpiper’s performance of O Canada at 9 p.m. before leading up to the fireworks display over Georgian Bay.
In Sauble Beach, the festivities will begin at 2 p.m. on Monday at the town square with a kids dance party and live music until 10 p.m. The fireworks will be launched the day before at dusk.
In Saugeen Shores, the local rotary club will be holding a barbeque from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. while the band, Something’s Always Flying returns to Southampton to play live until 6:30 p.m. There will be more live music by the Southampton Concern Band until 8 p.m., and fireworks going off after dark.
Canada Day activities in Kincardine will begin at 5 p.m. on June 30 with a movie night in Tiverton, where children will be able to create their own cardboard car to take in the film in their own vehicle. The movie will be Shawn the Sheep and will play between the ball diamonds starting around 9 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs and blankets.
On the Monday, Queen Street will come alive with a parade leaving from Victoria Park at 3 p.m. as it makes its way to Harbour Street.
Afterwards, the opening ceremony will start in Macpherson Park at 3:30 p.m. and will include carnival games, a maze, magician, alpaca petting zoo, face painting, food, and more.
The fireworks will be launched that evening at dusk from the pier.
