Hanover Police say a man is facing charges after being arrested at gunpoint.
Police say on June 1 at 9 a.m., an officer found a stolen vehicle parked at the Mac’s Milk store on Bruce Road 10 and Concession 2.
A man was found in the drivers seat and with assistance from West Grey Police, the suspect was arrested at gunpoint without incident.
As a result of a search, police recovered a stun gun, other weapons, cocaine valuing $4,200, methamphetamine valuing $800, drug trafficking paraphernalia, and over $1,800 in Canadian currency.
Police add the stolen vehicle was taken in July 2023 from Waterloo region, and it was found the suspect was wanted in several police jurisdictions including Hanover from a previous incident.
Additionally, further investigating found the licence plates on the vehicle were not real and were printed on paper and covered with with a licence plate cover to conceal them from officers.
Police say the fake licence plate had a licence plate number which belonged to a legitimate vehicle, registered to the same make, model and colour of the stolen vehicle.
The 40-year-old accused of no fixed address is charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, two counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, possession of firearms or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order, possession of a substance for the purpose of trafficking, two counts of failing to comply with a probation order, and failing to comply with a release order.
