South Bruce residents will be able to get more information about the proposed deep geological repository project during a forum in May.
During its April meeting, the Community Liaison Committee reviewed past engagement efforts from the South Bruce Nuclear Exploration Team.
The SBNET is a department within the municipality, and its main focus is on public engagement, connecting with the public, and providing education for the DGR project, which is run by the Nuclear Waste Management Organization.
On May 15th, the South Bruce Nuclear Exploration Forum: Safety and Opportunities will be held at the Mildmay Carrick Recreation Centre.
The event is free to attend and will feature panel presentations and an exhibition area.
Anyone wishing to attend is encouraged to register for the event. They also have a children’s program for kids aged 4-12 for parents who want to attend the forum but don’t have childcare during the event, which runs from 3-9 p.m.
The municipal will be holding a referendum later this year, where residents will be able to decide whether the DGR will be built within the community or not.
You can register for the event here.
