West Grey is appointing an Interim Chief Administrative Officer after Laura Johnston announced her resignation.
Council approved appointing the municipality’s Director of Finance and Treasurer Kerri Mighton to the role during a meeting on Feb. 6.
This comes as Johnston has accepted a new position with another municipality.
She has been with the municipality since the end of 2017 and has led several projects. During her time with West Grey, the municipality has implemented its first Community Improvement Plan, launched strategic plans with a focus on enhancing communications and economic development, expanded recreation and community events and more.
Mayor Kevin Eccles thanked Johnston for her years of service to West Grey.
“It has been an absolute pleasure to work with her. Her professionalism and work ethic have been exemplary, and we wish her continued success in her new position,” says Eccles.
She will officially leave the municipality Feb. 9.
Mighton, who has been with the municipality since 1994, has taken a leadership role in several initiatives, including overseeing the corporation’s technology, customer service as well as asset management programs.
Eccles says, “Kerri’s years of experience and depth of knowledge will certainly be invaluable during the transition period.”
She will assume her new role Feb. 12.
Council approved starting the recruitment process for a new permanent CAO.
